Miriam Van Bers

Miriam van Bers was born in Vienna soon after the Anschluss in 1938.  Fortunately, when she was a few weeks old, her parents managed to flee to England. Miriam grew up in England, but, in her words: “from the moment I knew there was a Jewish state my one dream was to come to Israel”.  In 1982 she moved to America with her second husband and in 1996 they came to live in Israel.

During her time in the UK Miriam worked as journalist on Aviation Review and at one of the London University colleges as the administrative secretary to the history department. Since coming to Israel Miriam has been on the editorial board and a contributor to ESRA MAGAZINE and also to The Jerusalem Post.  She does volunteer work for the English Department of the Open University in Raanana.  She and her husband live in Moshav Zofit and she says that her greatest achievement is living long enough to enjoy her three great-grandchildren
